Ditch The E-Waste In Rancho Santa Margarita At Recycling Event

RANCHO SANTA MARGARITA, CA — Do you have forgotten e-waste taking up space in your garage, or sensitive documents that you’ve been needing to shred? Mark your calendars, Rancho Santa Margarita. On Saturday, the city is hosting an e-waste and shredding event.

The City of Rancho Santa Margarita partnered with CR&R Waste Services to provide a free recycling service to Rancho Santa Margarita residents. At the event, residents can bring their e-waste or old documents and have them recycled or destroyed free of charge.

Electronic waste, or e-waste, includes items such as old cell phones, computers, printers, microwaves and other small appliances. To participate in the event, no registration is required — though the city emphasizes that the drive operates on a first-come, first-serve basis.

The city will not accept sharps, batteries, smoke detectors or fluorescent tubes.

In regard to shredding services, the city will not accept three-ring binders or document clips. There is a limit of 10 standard sized file boxes per car.

The free e-waste and shredding event takes place on Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon at the City Hall parking lot, 22112 El Paseo.
