E-waste recycling event set for Saturday in Souderton

Residents in and near Souderton can now safely offload their yellowing desktop computers, inoperable laptops, outmoded disk drives and other obsolete and non-working tech gear during Saturday’s e-waste recycling event.

The recycling event begins at 9 a.m. at Indian Crest Middle School, 139 Harleysville Pike in Souderton.

Small appliances, printers, computers, laptops and miscellaneous wires, plugs and cables will be accepted, along with anything with a plug — except television sets and standalone computer monitors. To recycle those items, residents are encouraged to contact Junk Luggers of Buxmont County, the recycling company facilitating Saturday’s event.

“There is no (limit on the number of items people can bring), but we are accepting smaller appliances only, so anything smaller than a dorm-sized refrigerator should be fine,” said Junk Luggers spokesperson Russell Pitcairn, who is expecting roughly 150 individuals to attend, looking to recycle roughly a ton of gear. “Another big piece of this is that we are accepting anything with a plug or metal bits.”

Saturday’s e-waste recycling event is co-sponsored by State Rep. Steve Malagari and State Sen. Maria Collet, and residents are encouraged to call 267-768-3671 for more information
