The city is offering residents overflow trash bags for curbside pickup through Dec. 19. Residents can buy up to five overflow bags for $1 per bag per household starting Dec. 19 through Jan. 6.

Bags can be purchased during normal business hours at the Collector’s office at 93 Washington Street, the Community Life Center at 401 Bridge Street and the Department of Public Services at 5 Jefferson Avenue.

The city is also hosting an Electronic Waste Collection Day on Dec. 17 from 8 a.m. to noon at Salem High School.

Additionally, excess cardboard and paper recycling can be brought to Greif at 53 Jefferson Avenue, and bulky items can be scheduled for pickup through Waste Management at 800-972-4545.
